Syd Barrett: 80th Birthday Celebration Exhibition

This year marks what would have been Roger “Syd” Barrett’s 80th birthday.

Openspace will host an exhibition featuring original paintings and sketches along with prints of larger works by the brilliant, creative force who co-founded Pink Floyd and shaped the psychedelic rock scene.

The exhibition will also include work by contemporary artists honouring Syd’s life, including his nephew Ian Barrett, Mark Wilkinson, Spadge Hopkins, Mikey Georgeson, Rob Martin, and James Wilkinson.

This exhibition coincides with a celebration concert featuring Kula Shaker, Soft Machine and many others on Saturday October 10th at Cambridge Corn Exchange.

Also a special album of cover versions called ‘Clowns And Jugglers’ will be released on October 9th offering fresh interpretations of some of Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd’s most iconic songs.

At 7.30pm on Friday 9th October there’ll be a talk by Rob Chapman, writer of Syd Barrett: A Very Irregular Head, widely considered to be the definitive biography of Syd Barrett.

Opening Times:
Saturday 3rd 10am – 5pm;
Sunday 4th 10am – 3pm;
Tuesday 6th – Sunday 11th 10am – 5pm
