Still Life Etching
23rd November @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for a short and focused 4-week course exploring techniques of drawing and dry point etching through the classic art genre of Still Life.
When: Beginning on Thursday 8 June for four weeks, 6.30pm to 9pm (2.5 hours)
Format: You will first be guided to construct your own Still Life composition(s) with different natural and man-made objects. Then you will explore different drawing materials and basic techniques to depict your composition, before learning, practising, and creating a unique intaglio etching based on your Still Life drawings.
At the end of this course you will have created several Still Life drawings and etchings, or you might choose to focus on 1 detailed print for the entire duration of the course.
Materials: All materials will be provided but we encouraged you to bring objects or images that you find inspiring.
Tutor: Audrey Lee is a mixed-media painter working with ink, collage, textiles, photography, installation, and found objects. She graduated with a BFA in Fine Art from University of Oxford, and an MPhil in Education from University of Cambridge. Her artistic practice is sketchbook-centric and under-construction, with an interest in surrealism, the performative, painterly image, flatness and dimensionality, the uncanny, text and humour, sino-diasporic girlhoods, and bedrooms. Audrey teaches at Hills Road Sixth Form College and is a workshop tutor of mixed-media art and printmaking at Rowan (https://www.audreyleeart.com/).
