Making Your Mark – A Joyful Approach to Drawing with Clare Basel at Cambridge Art Makers
5th March @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Drawing can represent our thoughts; we can express our ideas and emotions through the marks we make. We each have a unique way of seeing the world and our drawing, much like our handwriting demonstrates our individuality.
This workshop will allow you to play with different materials to discover what you enjoy and how you prefer to make marks. These unique ways of mark making can be used to create representational or abstract drawings.
We will explore drawing to sensory experiences. Through these experiences you will enrich your mark making vocabulary which will in turn empower your drawing practice. We will consider what influences our drawing style, our likes and dislikes and why it is important to pay attention to these when developing any creative endeavour. You will have a chance to work with a wide range of materials and tools to broaden your understanding or mark making. We will compare the qualities of speed drawing versus slower more considered drawings and see how these can focus your ideas and improve your intuitive and observational skills. You will be encouraged to explore different formats and scales for our exercises as these all impact on the drawing experience.
