Innovative Painting course with Cläre Basel

These weekly classes focus on developing your authentic voice in paint.

Through a series of playful experiments and more rigorous testing of art theories you will gain confidence in listening to your intuition and enjoy using your discoveries in your art making.

You will use mixed media to develop your ideas and Cläre will introduce you to a range of techniques. She will help you understand the properties of the materials and discover ways that they can best be harnessed to create your desired outcomes.

You will be working primarily with acrylics, initially on paper and then progressing to developing a series of small paintings on panels. The processes you will learn will be applied initially to abstract ideas but can then be incorporated into more representational work at a later stage.

You will be learning about design, value, colour, texture, intention and finishing your work.

You will be introduced to ways in which you can critique your own work in a constructive way to help you develop as an artist.
