ABOUT THIS EVENT
Join Teresa Crickmar this April for a twelve week jewellery course that caters for the beginner to the more experienced. Due to the small class sizes of five Teresa is able to work with you at your pace and skill level. Your friendly tutor will guide you through all the basics including how to make a stone set ring, a hammered chain necklace and even a beautiful fold-formed pendant.
Inspiration for projects is offered but often students are encouraged to work creatively and design their own pieces for themselves, loved ones or to sell.
Refreshments are offered through the class including sweet treats, cold drinks, tea, fresh coffee and a huge collection of Pukka teas.
The first week or so is used as a complete beginners session or as a catch up to remember past skills. You will learn about the basic jewellers’ tools, how to use them to mark, measure, cut, file, texture, form and solder work. These skills will then help you to know what is possible and you can order silver for the following weeks.
Teresa is a sought-after tutor. She creates a fun, relaxed atmosphere to learn in and oozes positivity. Learners join her classes a little unsure and sometimes lacking confidence with the skillset or creativity but quickly catch the addiction to jewellery-making with her enthusiasm for all things fire, metal and sparkle. You will gain the skills to make beautiful, professional-looking work that will receive lots of compliments.
Teresa believes the design element of making should be as important as the piece itself and so if you have ideas, or are inspired by others work please share this before you start so that she can adjust the course content. Small tailored courses give you just what you want. Teresa will give you an idea of the materials and processes needed right from the outset before you even start making!
Her work can be seen in Primavera Gallery, Cambridge. She shares her time between being a mother, wife, cockerpoo mummy, homemaker (literally plastering and building walls!), a Reiki practitioner, adult education tutor, jeweller and her many volunteer roles in the community.
This 28-hour course runs for two hours per week for fourteen weeks with a maximum class size of five. Term starts on the 6th of September and runs for seven weeks. Please note that there is no class during the half term week – 25th October. We then return for a further seven weeks from 1st November until 13th December.
What’s included in the price?
Base metals will be provided to use as will equipment and tools however precious metals and stones will need to be purchased in addition to course fees. The tutor will help you with where, what and how.
