Artist's StatementHello!
I have an upcoming Christmas Open Studio on the weekend of December 9-10th, from 10.30am til 5.00pm. I will be exhibiting work with two fellow artists, Fiona Thomas and Donna Goymer at The Old Manse, 87 High Street, Guilden Morden. I have made some new cyanotype prints and various items for the home and accessories on display. Hope you can join us for a glass of mulled wine and enjoy our exhibition.
Sometime back I started exploring the use of the computer to produce artwork - it felt very new at the time, and I thought that many were rather suspicious of it, but now it is good to see that many artists and illustrators are embracing this new media to produce artwork. I feel that we have a long way to go before we fully appreciate how creative we can be using apps like Photoshop, Illustrator Sketches etc.. to produce images. I still use traditional drawing and painting methods, such as pen and ink, acrylic paints, oil pastels etc. because I love the feel of them, their physical existence which is absent when producing digital work. However, it is somewhat compensated in Photoshop with layers. If you look carefully at my digital artwork when it has been printed out, you will be able to actually see the layers in three dimensions. For some wonderful and strange reason, our brains are able to decipher them on what is basically a two-dimensional image. And that is exciting, because it opens up a whole new way of producing art.

Digital Collages
These are digital collages that I create using hand drawn images, photographs, textures, and patterns. They are put together using apps such as Photoshop and saved as files. These are then sent to a specialist Art printer who produces them as a limited edition of between 40 or 50 prints which are signed and numbered by me and the printer. A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) is supplied with each print, to ensure the quality of print and if it is a genuine limited edition print rather than one just grabbed off the web.
