Artist's StatementPracticing as an architect has provided me with a meticulous and precise way of working. Considering each detail and junction of a building in plan, section and elevation can be translated into drawings of plants and their anatomy. I take on a botanical illustration as I would a building design, working out the plant’s construction, pulling it apart and putting it back together, to scale, with careful consideration of space, form and composition. From the humble dandelion to nature’s extraordinary displays of colour found in fruit and flowers, the science and beauty of plants never fails to fascinate me. Colour pencil, Ink and graphite are my favorite mediums to work with. I enjoy combining them to add depth to my drawings, this can be by creating a sense of place or by showing a growth cycle over time.

Vicky graduated from the Society of Botanical Artists Distance Learning Diploma Course with distinction in 2023. She has exhibited her work in a number of UK galleries including the Mall Galleries, London. Having worked for many years as an Associate Lecturer Vicky now uses her teaching experience to deliver talks, workshops and evening classes in botanical illustration. Vicky is an active member of the Iceni Botanical Artists and a Fellow Member of the Society of Botanical Artists.

Vicky's open studio provides a relaxed environment with the opportunity to learn drawing techniques and see live demonstrations and along with process videos and sketchbooks. In addition to creating original artwork Vicky produces Giclee artist quality prints, cards and gifts.
