Artist's StatementI am a printmaker and painter whose work is inspired by the countryside surrounding my home and studio in Elsworth, as well as by my travels further afield. I love to sketch and paint outdoors—whether on journeys, in my garden, or in the nearby fields—gathering visual inspiration that later develops into my prints and paintings.

My work is shaped by both my background in biology and my lifelong fascination with biodiversity, alongside memories of growing up on the Kent coast, just a stone’s throw from the dramatic cliff tops. These influences encourage me to observe the natural world closely and celebrate its richness, patterns and ever-changing character.

I work with a range of printmaking techniques, including collagraph, linocut, monoprint, lithography and drypoint, often combining processes and adapting them experimentally to create a wide variety of expressive marks and textures. I also enjoy printing onto found surfaces such as book pages, maps, musical scores, fabric and dressmaking patterns, creating playful connections between the image and its support.

Whether working in print or oil paint, I am fascinated by the interplay of layers. I enjoy allowing colours, textures and marks to collide, revealing hidden elements beneath translucent passages and creating images that evolve through the making process.
