Artist's StatementI am a textile artist, quilter, printmaker and painter. My current practice focuses primarily on themes of memory and forgetting, alongside meditations on the Caribbean landscape. I am also interested in exploring — and questioning — societal ideals of beauty and femininity. Construction, deconstruction and reconstruction are at the heart of my creative process.

My work incorporates a variety of media and artistic methods: some traditional, some more experimental and innovative. Layers of symbolism and intimation are woven together: for example, tissue paper and organza fabric evoke the fragility of memory, while torn areas suggest loss. My mixed media pieces often function like mental maps, bringing fragmentary thoughts and ideas to the surface and allowing narratives to unfold organically, through multi-sensory association.
