Artist's StatementI use acrylic paints on wood and mixed media on paper.
I like to construct 3d animals and birds from reclaimed or found pieces of wood, that I have chosen because something about the shape or texture inspires me. Often I will paint the animals using acrylics - subtly or more strikingly - but when the wood itself is very beautiful I will leave it unadorned.
My paintings are inspired by my love of nature: landscapes, the sea, ponds, lakes, rivers, all things botanical, birds and trees. The paintings i produce are partly naturalistic but I like to leave areas of ambiguity.
