Using my camera to create memories of moments rather than recording specific details, I make photos with intentional movement with an ephemeral and painterly aesthetic. My work evokes the essence of a subject by leaning towards the ‘significant form’ idea from the 1920s Bloomsbury Group’s Clive Bell – that a good work of art is so defined by its ability to provoke ‘aesthetic emotion’ in the viewer and has little, if anything, to do with subject identification or representation. My work has been shortlisted for several international awards and is held in private collections around the world.
Returning to fine art photography after a decade in academic science, my days are finely balanced between photography and home education of my daughter. Frequent travels involve adventurous locations, home ed, and my camera – the perfect trio. Some of my great loves are yoga, gardening, camping and bonfires, fresh food, long walks, my family, and cozy pajamas. My favourite movie quote is from The Contender: “Principles only mean something if you stick by them when they’re inconvenient.”

King's College Chapel
Contemporary fine art photographs of King's College Chapel Cambridge, including images from up in a cherry picker and of candlelit evensong. The 'FOCUSED on King's College Chapel' book is the result of these tangible and visceral adventures within this living, breathing, monumental, sacred space.
