Artist's StatementI am a textile artist working in constructed textiles to produce wall hangings. I also make some wearable art. My primary material is fibre and yarn, which I use to construct a fabric. Tapestry weaving on a loom is my main method of working. I engage in other forms of fabric making such as braiding, knotting ,looping or netting. Whilst I take my subject matter from the natural world, especially plant life, my designs tend to be abstract with a strong bias towards pattern. I prefer to work with natural materials: wool, cotton, silk, linen, paper and other cellulose fibres. I enjoy fusing colour, texture and form into a decorative and well-crafted art object.
