Artist's StatementOlivia Ho-yun is a British-Korean potter based in Cambridge, UK. With a background in ecology, her practice is shaped by time spent in nature and a deep-rooted engagement with East Asian arts. She studied traditional Japanese ceramics in Tajimi under master potter Setsuro Shibata, complementing ongoing study of Japanese tea ceremony.

Drawn to the spiritual philosophies of tea ceremony, Olivia’s work explores ceramics as a means of connection— humble vessels that transform when used. Encouraging awareness and appreciation of the unrepeatable nature of each moment. Through continual experimentation with texture and glaze development, she is now deepening her exploration of the distinctive qualities of wood-firing.
