Artist's StatementOscar Hart is a visual artist and printmaker based in Cambridge, England. Working primarily in linocut, woodcut and etching, his practice also encompasses ceramics, drawing and painting. Deeply rooted in traditional printmaking, Hart is drawn to the physicality of making and the enduring qualities of handcrafted processes. Wherever he travels, a sketchbook is never far from reach, recording observations, places and encounters that later find their way into his work.

A graduate of the Cambridge School of Art, Hart's practice explores the complexities of contemporary life through satire, symbolism and narrative. Inspired by world events, current affairs, history and folklore, he creates images that examine the darker aspects of human nature while retaining a subtle sense of humour.
