Artist's StatementMy work is abstract or semi abstract, evoking rugged coastal scenes, or landscapes. The paintings are quite large, designed to be a strong statement, but I also aim to create an interesting surface, a sense of wear and tear, that needs to be viewed close up. I work intuitively on canvas using many layers, adding and subtracting until I feel a satisfactory balance and harmony has been achieved. Colour, brushwork and texture, using a variety of techniques, are used to suggest mood and atmosphere. My works on paper are developed in the same way, using acrylic, inks, charcoal with collaged elements.

I will be present at St Barnabas Press for Weekends 1 and 3 of Open Studio but my studio and work will be on view every weekend.
