Artist's StatementI have always been attracted to architecture, throughout school, and my degree, my subject matter has always had this common thread. My interests focus on large blank slabs of concrete, either brutalist architecture, or a motorway overpass or staircase. I am also drawn to the non-spaces, the lobby, waiting room or corridor. My work often goes through several processes. What starts with photography, is collaged, and redrawn on the computer before it becomes a drawing, and I never know when I begin a piece what medium will be used. They are re-worked, re-painted, scrubbed and re-redrawn, the textures building, until I recognise what it was that attracted me there in the first place.
