Artist's StatementTravel is often the starting point for my work. The heightened sense of alertness when moving from place to place lends itself to collecting images; mental and photographic.
Sounds, photographs, people you are with and film footage are all revisited to build a painting that hopefully exists independently, but is still personal to me.
Old photographs, lyrics, cd’s, brochures and maps are all present as inspiration in my studio.
The works can appear formal or abstract, I try to inhabit a space between the two.
Educated at Edinburgh College of Art, I graduated in 2001.
Having exhibited widely including Glasgow, Aberdeen, Cambridge and Portland, Oregon, I now have work all over the world in private collections.
The Postal Museum has one of my hand painted postcard paintings I made during lockdown in their permanent collection. I had two paintings on display at last years Royal Academy Summer show in London.
