Artist's StatementHaving trained in fine art and graphic design at Dartington College of Arts and Corsham (Bath Academy of Art) I took up sculpting in stone over 20 years ago on moving to Cambridge. I enjoy the sheer physicality of shaping stone and coaxing out the different textures. I tend to let the stone itself suggest the form which then evolves organically. I like to use a variety of stones including alabaster and African spring stone. I glean particular satisfaction from carving British limestone as it suits my quest for simplicity of form.
