Artist's StatementBIOGRAPHY

Loukas Morely is an artist, designer and maker who works with reclaimed materials to produce functional works and art inspired by beauty and life. One of Cambridge’s leading artists and designer-makers, Loukas Morley has exhibited in a range of galleries and museums, from the Museum of Classical Archaeology in Cambridge, to Sotheby’s Auction House, London.

He regularly provides technical expertise to many of Cambridge’s leading museums to support the install of major shows and artistic works including Europe’s largest collection of women’s art at The Women’s Art Collection (Murray Edwards college, University of Cambridge) and is commissioned by a range of clients including Kettle’s Yard (University of Cambridge), Anglesey Abbey (National Trust), Espresso Library, Stem and Glory and many businesses, individuals and households.

Curvaceous burr wood forms, turned from twisted root balls - the literal roots of his local landscape.

Using rare, ancient windfalls from Anglesey Abbey and other old Cambridgeshire gardens, Loukas has revealed the complex character of wood that has matured over hundreds of years.
