Artist's StatementMy inspiration often begins with photos gathered on walks and wanderings; my interests ranging from dilapidated buildings and architecture to landscape and nature, or whatever catches my eye!

In the studio I explore these themes using collage, mono-printing, painting and photo-transfer techniques. My process begins in a fairly random manner by building up layers of collage using antique books, letters and newspapers. Layers of paint and other mark-making media are then loosely applied using brushes and various tools, leaving some of the text and type visible. Working intuitively, I gradually incorporate photographic elements and more complimentary collage to form a pleasing composition.

I am especially drawn to the juxtaposition of photographic imagery with the loosely painted/collaged layers, creating intriguing new dimensions of unexpected colour and texture.
