Artist's StatementI am an art historian and a member of the feminist sewing group / art collective Memorarte. Do come and visit if you would like to see our textile art and the occasional sculpture. I am known for my work in the field of participatory needlework, sewing groups, the public humanities, and Latin American art. I collaborate closely with Erika Silva, one of the directors of Memorarte. We specialise in Chilean arpilleras and are available to speak at or facilitate workshops related to textile art or arpilleras.
You can expect political art on themes like inequalities, gender issues, the history of slavery and diaspora, peacebuilding and the climate crisis.
My exhibitions usually include work by the Latin American artists I collaborate with, including the afro-descendant Colombian art collective the Mujeres tejiendo sueños y sabores de paz (the Tejedoras de Mampuján), the polemic Chilean sculptor Robinson Barría and of course, Memorarte. Commissions are welcome. Private viewings of the work of the Latin American artists I collaborate with and represent are also possible, please enquire.
