Artist's StatementI have always found natural forms, particularly ancient sea organisms, inspirational. As a child living in Cambridge, I explored all the museums available to me and the intricate early life-forms observed can be seen in my early prints when later I worked towards my BA Hons in fine art print-making. During this period of my life I also took pleasure from sourcing fine, but extremely strong, papers from Japan and silk with beautiful bright dyes from China to produce scarves inspired by the flora and fauna I observed.Later, during my studies, I took inspiration from folk and fairy tales which were traditionally used to prepare girls from the age of innocent childhood towards womanhood and enlightenment/preparation for courtship and marriage.Jewellery rather than printmaking became more do-able in the snatches of time and space available to me as we brought up daughters and so became prominent in my creativity. I also had the good fortune to meet amazing teachers and I am still learning new techniques.Presently I am enjoying explorations into silver and latterly a little gold too, by making jewellery combining many coloured semi-precious stones and beautiful freshwater pearls, along with my enthusiastic silver-smith study buddy and friend. I have recently been learning watercolour techniques and love to combine media.
