Artist's StatementI draw anything that’s in front of me on a regular basis, and attend life drawing classes to keep up the discipline of observation and recording.
I enjoy experimenting with watercolours and hold art classes during the daytime. I have taught adults for thirty years, each day is different. Prior to adult education I taught art at secondary level with a few years before that getting to grips with primary and infant teaching methods.
My preferred drawing medium is a good plain graphite pencil, but there’s a tendency to rub out, so the next best is ink. My studio is at ‘Unit 13’, a building in Cambridge housing a collective of artists of many disciplines.
I am a member of the Cambridge Drawing Society, Cambridge District Art Circle and the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists.

Watercolour
The basic medium is watercolour, but in some examples I have incorporated ink, pencil, gouache, or dye.
Drawing, one a day project and lockdown sketches
A few years ago I began a project challenging myself to draw every day for a year. That first year was left incomplete by a few days, I can’t remember the reason now, but the idea spurred me on to continue during lockdown.
