Artist's Statement

I am a retired nurse and self taught amateur artist living in Cambridge. My art is mostly contemporary in style using colours that capture a scenes mood. I also paint some abstract, impressionist and illustrative styles. I am inspired by sky and cloud formation and these are the main focus of my landscapes. I love working in oil but enjoy pastels, acrylic and watercolour. I am very lucky to have an outdoor studio space which has been my busy place during lockdown. I have developed my portrait style and painted 5 portraits for 'Portraits for NHS heroes' during lockdown, an initiative set up by the artist Tom Croft. I was absolutely delighted to have one of my portraits in the online exhibition of #portraitsfornhsheroes brought to the public by Google Arts & Culture in collaboration with Paintings in Hospitals and can be found in the link: https://artsandculture.google.com/project/healthcare-heroes

I have also painted portraits for Sky Arts 'Portrait artist of the week' and also some family members.
