Artist's StatementAll my work is about weaving or stitching with natural, growing and recycled materials in a variety of settings.
I often make work outside and include walking in the process. I balance periods of time spent working with communities to working alone in my studio; each is an essential element of my artwork.
I am interested in sense of place, why people feel at home in a locality how they make use of this, and how connected they are to the other than-human inhabitants of the locality. I enjoy collaborating with artists, scientists and writers as well as members of local communities.
Early in 2023 I set aside time in the studio to develop a new collection, using different materials and forms.
I am looking forward to welcoming visitors to Open Studios in the summer to show that collection as well as work in progress.

Jane Frost's Portfolios
Images selected are from Story Quilt projects made since 2000. They are made with a wide variety of communities and settings.
Story Quilts are made from recycled wool blankets and wool yarn. They are used for story times as small performance spaces, topics and images vary depending on the choice of host and setting.
Design is a collaboration, between participants and host.
Small sculptures and basket forms
A collection of pieces made from willow, textiles and a range of recycled materials.
These have been developing over several years, using traditional techniques adapted to make contemporary art work.
The current collection is being made into a 'Cabinet of Curiosities' that will be shown in Open Studios 2023
Commissions include a variety of sculpture and baskets, for private individuals, community projects, and public spaces.
I like to collaborate with artists, scientists and storytellers. Work varies widely and the materials used are never the same.
