Artist's StatementJim Butler’s work interprets urban life. He has made a large collection of collage drawings made completely on location in various cities. The Guardian commissioned him to make a series of drawings of The Flying Pig pub in Cambridge. Alongside drawings, he makes screenprints, etchings and linocuts. He also makes artists books. He won the World Illustration Award in 2018 for his book Blackrock Sequence. His work is in numerous public collections in the UK, Europe and USA including the Tate, National Gallery of Ireland, Meermano Museum and Art Institute of Chicago. He has taught in Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University since 2007.
