Artist's StatementHelen Bryant is a maker and illustrator from Cambridge, England. Helen holds a degree in Illustration from the Cambridge School of Art, an MA in Illustration from Falmouth University and a BA (Hons) in silversmithing and jewellery. 

Her work is focussed on print making and children’s books, and shows a love of folklore, the natural world, and ancient and classical history. Her illustrations and prints always have a strong feeling of narrative, atmosphere, and a sprinkle of magic! Bold colour and quirky characterisation are key in her work and  she strives to create worlds where the viewer is enticed inside, and absorbed in the story.

Helen has had a number of childrens' books published and recently was overall winner for the Pressing Matters magazine colour challenge (issue 32). She is currently working on a trilogy of self written and illustrated folktales.

Helen is happiest when surrounded by her artist materials, a good sketchbook and her dogs - Albie the Border Collie and Spooky Sue the inherited Cavapoo - in her den at the bottom of the garden. The local wildlife occasionally moves inside when it’s cold  to keep her company.
