Very few of the paintings in this set are 'of' anywhere specific, but instead are drawn from memories of how I felt on a particular day, in an attempt to capture more the sense of a place. I am hoping that on looking at them that you too will be reminded of something or somewhere that is meaningful to you. Despite a love of more rugged terrain, these paintings are also part of learning to love the flatter lands that offer themselves up on the doorstep. One of those below is titled 'the fens are quite interesting, actually'!

My paintings have people in them much less often, but I do enjoy making them. This selection is called 'readers' and - simply - depicts people in some way engaged with the mundane, unselfconscious and very much every-day process of reading a book.
