Artist's StatementMy latest series of ceramic sculptural work reflects the my interest in functional and industrial architecture. The objects appear designed for a specific function or task, perhaps an industrial widget or radio tower. The viewer might find in each piece a sense of play, imagining a context or function and thinking, “What is that? It reminds me of…” Each piece is assembled from hand-thrown stoneware forms, joined to emphasize the interplay of light and shadow. Surface decoration with porcelain slip and colored terra sigillata.
