Artist's Statement

I am a quilt maker and textile artist and very much drawn to modern bright colours and patterns. Experimental by nature and always keen to try a range of different techniques in my work. My quilts have a modern twist and some of my textile art pieces are made out of discarded deconstructed clothing, applying acrylic paint and inks then machine embroidered or hand stitched. My work reflects that I am a colourist by nature. Many of my skills and ideas have come about through several years as a practicing artist and exhibiting as part of The London Painters and Sculptors Group and learning through Insight School of Art in North London.

Textiles have largely taken over my practice and it is interesting for me now to observe how quiltmaking will in turn influence my art. My art work is inspired by nature using acrylic mediums and semi abstract in presentation.
