Artist's Statement

Liz studied ceramics at Bournemouth college of Art, and subsequently worked in New Zealand with Ian Smail, and at Barry Brickells pottery in Coromandel.

Her studies abroad continued, looking at form, glazes and firing techniques in various rural potteries both in Spain and in India at the Delhi Blue Pottery.

In 1982, Liz established her studio and continues to work there. She has always enjoyed the diversity of adapting her skills to make commissioned work for theatre, film and larger terracotta pieces for heritage building restoration.

Currently, Liz is using high fired terracotta to make a range of domestic ware and develop individual sculptural forms. In addition, Liz continues to make glazes and experiment with their application, to create depth and vibrancy.
