Artist's StatementI am a mixed media textile and watercolour artist and a collector of vintage, time worn preloved textiles and haberdashery. Reuse and repurpose , adding found objects ( buttons, rusty metal and nature finds) to my work. Using a slow stitch approach I create a diverse array of textile art and decorative items , heavily influenced by my love of wild flowers and nature .
I am constantly inspired by the subtle variations of colour found within vintage linens and lace and their time worn imperfections. Using the tiniest pieces of fabrics to create my work .
Painting with my needle using traditional techniques I hand embroider to create my one off detailed and intricate pieces of textile art . Whether it is a picture or scrapy rag patches ( to be used for broaches, decorate clothing , lavender bags or just to have and love).
As a sustainable organic gardener I love to experiment with the use of natural and botanical dyes and paint . The beautiful subtlety of the colours created adding depth and beauty to my work.
My watercolours are also express my love of nature depicting, gardens , flowers, and landscapes.
