Artist's StatementBecause I have become free to pursue art on a regular basis only later in life, I don't want to be confined to a particular style or subject. My work follows three different directions. First pastel portraits, often mono-coloured, then mixed-media still life often featuring fruit, and most recently multi-coloured abstracts in acrylic on canvas. I choose to go where inspiration leads. I enjoy the softness, literally, of pastels, and the blending of colour to produce something gentle. Acrylic is more challenging, but the end result stronger, vibrant. For portraits I work from photos rather than sitters.
I work from a garden studio about 15 minutes walk from the City Centre and enjoy showing my work to anyone interested at any time of year by special arrangement. Please contact me by email. And I am much happier than I look in this photo!
