Artist's StatementI am mostly self taught and work from my studio corner with the kiln adjacent to the dining table. I love the vibrant colours and textures that working with glass gives and the fact that it is a very hands on physical process, cutting, grinding and finally fusing. Some pieces are one-offs. Others, such as Christmas decorations, are cut to a template but all made by hand and none are identical. My work is mostly abstract or semi-abstract, taking inspiration from pattern and colour that you see around you in everyday life, both natural and manmade. That moment where everything lines up perfectly. I am also inspired by the landscapes of the Fens and Norfolk, especially the coast; and water. Be it the Caribbean (I wish) or the river Cam (far more likely!)
