Artist's StatementI have always been a creative person. I grew up in a beautiful country house in the depths of North-Rhine Westphalia. Later, in Tubingen, I met my future British husband and we moved together with my daughter to Cambridge 35 years ago. Since my early retirement we bought a house in the countryside near Cambridge.First, following some training in ceramics I started making portrait heads in clay encouraged by an enthusiastic tutor and continued making figures and torsos in clay under the instruction of another master sculptor. I have modelled, hollowed out and fired some pieces, and a few figures have been reproduced as bronze-araldite casts for sale.I also made time for weekly painting classes with a well-known portrait artist and now paint regularly in my new studio in our garden overlooking the 14th century church in Barton. I paint what I like and see (or not see!) in our old magic garden surrounded by trees, birds, butterflies, frogs and squirrels, the sky the sun and moon and the smell of wood. On my walks and travels I take photos to help me recreate my impressions on canvas. I have developed a love for the woods, fields and stone walls of the British landscape - but also the intense bright colours first experienced in India, and which have stayed with me forever. Now I mainly enjoy painting in acrylics and oil on canvas or gouache, pastel and ink on paper. As well as original paintings, I sell Giclee prints of some of my work in A4 and A2 poster size, as well as cards with envelopes.Exhibitions: As member of Cambridge District Art Circle every year, last weekend in August in Grantchester(2013-2022) ; as member of Ely Art Lovers' Workshop in Ely Babylon Art Gallery(2014-2022), Cambridge Michaelhouse, Cambridge Newnham Community Hall(2016and2022), and in Thornham (Hunstanton) for the Stroke Association 2016-2019).
