Artist's StatementAndy Dakin is a Cambridge artist who creates a variety of figurative and abstracted works in oil, acrylic, charcoal and mixed media. These include cityscapes, interiors, ideas and life drawings/paintings. Figures feature prominently.
Graduating with a Fine Art Degree in Manchester in 1991, Dakin then worked in local media in Cambridge taking thousands of photographs in the process. After more than a twenty-year hiatus he returned to art in 2013, since then achieving ‘Visitor’s Favourite’ six times with the Cambridge Drawing Society and exhibiting with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the New English Art Club. He is co-founder of the life drawing group Lifers. Open Studio 2026 is his first since 2023 and offers a wide range of new works in different styles.
