Artist's StatementI was born on Merseyside in 1959 and went to Newcastle University, where I gained a BA(Hons) in Fine Art in 1981. My work takes its inspiration from different sources, including derelict buildings, graffiti, poetry and jazz. I use a range of materials, (different papers, paints and plaster, etc) in a process that involves mark making, printing and collage, as well as photographic images and text. I work intuitively, encouraging an interplay between the conscious and unconscious, the material and the metaphysical, adding and taking away elements until a point of resolution is reached.
