Artist's StatementMy work plays with colour, texture and transparency, to produce pieces that bring little moments of joy. I use glass, silver and enamels in an abstract, contemporary style that’s influenced by mid-century and Scandinavian design.

I grew up in Scotland - loving hills, mountains and sea - yet have spent much of my adult life in flat old Cambridge. I’m inspired by the ancient landscapes on the Celtic edges of Britain, and by the deep history of Cambridge, the city and its countryside.

As a maker, I love the challenge and the surprise that working with glass brings - most of my work is fired for 14 hours, often in multiple firings, and results can be hard to predict.

I’m known for my friendly birds - suncatchers or Christmas ornaments - which can hang on a window or a tree. I make decorative panels and lightboxes, using techniques that blur the lines between stained glass and fused glass. I also make silver and glass jewellery, typically in simple shapes with hammered details.
