Artist's StatementMy artwork is heavily inspired by my holidays on the island of Reunion. The island is part of my heritage and much artwork has been created from photos taken on the island. The island of Reunion has been my source of inspiration for a long time. I want to capture the beauty the island has to offer through my artwork. My art medium is very varied. At the moment I enjoy painting. I also love to experiment with different art mediums. This includes painting, drawing, sewing, and printmaking.

Sunset slate paintings
These slate paintings were referenced by photos of sunsets taken on the island of Reunion. The island of Reunion has been my main inspiration for my art. These paintings were done using acrylics.
Sunsets using different materials
These paintings and collages are all done using the same reference image. The sunset image was taken on my holiday on the island of Reunion. I liked this photo and have used it many times as inspiration for my artwork. I have created many different versions of the photo. This includes my slate painting using acrylics. The next photo along is a collage using magazine scraps. I completed this in my sketchbook. The next photo was done using gouache on acetate. This was part of my coursework for college. The final photo is a development of the acetate painting. I photocopied the painting onto acetate and sewed the acetate onto the fabric.
Still life paintings
Still life paintings using acrylic paint.
Photoshop edited paintings
The same painting created these images. The painting was referenced by a photo that I took of these tiny bananas found on the island of Reunion. The first painting was done using acrylics. I then developed the painting in photoshop. I edited the photo by changing the hue and saturation of the painting.
