Artist's StatementAlthough I trained as painter and potter and art teacher, ever since coming into contact with clay as a student it made me realise that this was the media I wanted to work with and have done ever since in a variety of ways, but principally making one-off pieces of ceramic sculpture. I trained at Bath Academy of Art, Corsham. Taught Art in schools 1957-74 Lecturer in Ceramics Saffron Walden College of Education until it's closure in 1977. Set up own Pottery workshop. Wholesaling work initially, eventually moving into direct retailing with hand-built, thrown ware. Early eighties taught 3D design to Foundation students at St. Albans College of Art. Since 1998 have concentrated on individual sculptural ceramic work. Most of which is generally large and is principally suited to outdoor display. Work is sold mainly through Open Studios and also at large Ceramic shows. Potfest in the Park -Penrith, Art in Clay -Hatfield House.
