Artist's StatementMy practice is informed by a lifelong engagement with the UK’s most significant landscapes - places I have helped to understand, define, and protect. In my painting, I approach the land not as a subject to be represented, but as a lived and responsive presence. Working through abstraction, I use form, texture, and colour to investigate rhythm, memory, and spatial structure. Each piece develops through extended periods of walking, sketching, and attentive stillness, allowing the work to register an embodied exchange between place and self. Rather than describing landscape, the paintings seek to articulate a feeling of belonging.
