Artist's StatementAfter leaving college I worked in the Fashion Industry until I moved from London to Lincoln to attend Art College. I returned to London during the 1980's to help run a Film and Video Company, editing and producing special effects for TV Commercials. We moved to Cambridge in 1993 where I met Mel Fraser who introduced me to clay head modelling and then Stone Carving.Smoothness and lines have always fascinated me; the trick of light, shadows passing over objects creating shapes and movement; Stone in all its forms is the perfect source for an artist to convey the abstract concept of life, death, time. Mostly abstract, my pieces are ideas provoked by the elements, wind, sea, sky, sun and moon; the constant changes and movements these create. My influences are a fairly eclectic mix of African and Eastern Art, Brancusi, Modigliani, Nguchi, Eric Gill and Emily Young.
