Artist's StatementBorn in 1944 my boyhood in the South Cambridgeshire countryside was followed by 7 years at art schools (Cambridge, Byam Shaw and Royal Academy). This inspired me to link my passion for country sports and conservation with painting the moods of the landscape. From the family cottage in North Norfolk, paintings of the still, reflective water of the coastal marshes led on to painting rivers. These pictures created 5 exhibitions at the Tryon Gallery in London in the 1980s and 90s, where a reputation was made as a leading painter of water in all its moods. For the past 30 years I have travelled extensively in Britain working on commissions, from the silky waters of Southern chalk streams to roaring spate rivers of the Highlands of Scotland. Prestigious commissions have also taken me abroad to countries including Russia, Austria, Germany, U.S.A, Argentina and Brazil.
