Artist's Statement

Using traditional rug making techniques; hooking, rag rug and lockerhook I create highly original textile wall hangings. To these I add low relief wood carvings, this produces a multi textured surface which is as pleasing to the touch as it is to the eye. The themes that seem to run through my work are coastal and geological, although anything from dried mud to architecture can catch my attention, this tends to make some of my work looks abstract, patterns and textures are what drive me! I will be starting work shops this year so come along and explore the medium with me. Photographs; observations on texture and pattern, I've turned quite interesting patterns taken from nature and architecture, into intricate tessellated repeat designs, using computer technology.
