Author name: Radek Walachnia | Cambridge Fantastic

"Current exhibition: Castle Art Gallery, Cambridge. I’d like to think that being an architect and also having years of experience in the video game industry gave me a unique ability to mix in my art real world elements with more imaginative add-ons resulting in a magical, surrealistic view on Cambridge and surrounding areas. For 2022 Open Studios I’m preparing a series of watercolour illustrations in the “Cambridge Fantastic” theme. I’m trying to convey an idea of the city free of pollution and traffic jams, where people can use all the vertical space to walk, cycle, use ‘flying’ rowboats or even air-punt and in general enjoy their lives literally on all available levels. If you look hard enough you may find some famous characters hidden within my art. There are some Monty Python iconic characters there, Sir Isaac Newton accompanied by Charles Darwin and late Stephen Hawking, or Floyds performing on (or above) the streets of Cambridge. Actually my art in general is more than just watercolours. I’m working in a range of media: gouache, acrylic, oils and also digital creating broad range of art, from sci-fi to horror, from children’s illustration to landscapes. To find out more, please visit my website or different social media platforms (work in progress on those) "
